Donna completed her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from Trinity Christian College (1989) and her Master’s in Nursing (MSN)/Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) from Rush University (2012). Donna has spent a majority of her career in the Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery (NICU) at the University of Chicago Medicine as a staff nurse, caring for the most fragile of infants at a Level III hospital. For two years she served as the clinical specialist for the NICU. In this role, she worked to optimize patient care by working with the staff, evaluating/standardizing practice, and providing education. In 2006, she completed a one-year clinical ethics fellowship at the UCM and serves as an ethics support nurse to UCM staff. Her current role (2015), as the Neonatal Outreach educator for the UCM Perinatal network, combines her past experiences as a bedside nurse, clinical specialist, educator and support person to those caring for neonates.
